Life Groups

Life Groups are MVBC's way of helping people connect relationally and grow spiritually by moving from rows in church to circles in homes. They are small groups of people (usually 12-16) who get together regularly to study some aspect of the Bible, while also getting to know each other.

Fall 2018 Life Groups & Studies

LifeGroup - The Gemmills
Leaders: John & Linda Gemmill
Time: Thursdays, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. (Beginning Sept. 13)
Location: Gemmill Home
Currently studying: A Place Called Heaven by Dr. Robert Jeffress

If any of us learned we were going to move to a foreign country, we'd do everything we could to learn about that place so that we'd be prepared when moving day arrived. As Christians, we know someday we will leave our familiar country and be united with God in heaven. And yet many of us know very little about this place called heaven. In this six-session small group Bible study, Robert Jeffress opens the Scriptures to explore several surprising truths about heaven and believers will get a clearer picture of the divine place Jesus has prepared for us.

LifeGroup – The Amanos
Leaders: Ricky & Mavis Amano
Time: Sundays, 6 - 8pm (beginning Sept. 23)
Location: Amano Home

The Amano LifeGroup is an opportunity to connect with fellow Moon Valley attenders over dessert and study. This fall this group will be studying The Ultimate Conversation by Charles Stanley.

Bible Study – Bible Study for Women
Leaders: Linda Gemmill
Time: Thursdays, 9 - 11 AM
Location: Gorslin home
Studying: What Matters Most: A Study of Philippians by Karen Ehman

Over seven sessions, this study walks us through Paul's letter to the Philippians teaching foundational truths of the Christian faith. The world has always been full of trials, disappointments, temptations, fractured friendships, and financial hardships. Yet Paul’s letter to the Philippians claims we can discover contentment and joy in the midst of it all by prioritizing what matters most—Christ.

Bible Study - Men's Bible Study
Leaders: Mark Spencer
Time: Thursdays, 7 - 8 a.m.
Location: Greenway Shipping Corp. offices (14300 Northsight Blvd, Suite 120 Scottsdale, AZ 85260 (near Scottsdale Airport))

Our focus is a contextually driven, grace-based study of various biblical passages. Training men to accurately handle and understand biblical truth is a proven way to positively impact families, cultivate a church and make an eternal difference in the world.

Mending the Soul (Women)

This year we are offering a Mending the Soul (MTS) group for women. MTS groups are smaller than Life Groups (approximately 6-8 women), and are designed to provide support and help to those recovering from their experiences of abuse (whether sexual, physical, verbal, spiritual, or neglect and abandonment) or other relational challenges. The MTS group provides a safe and supportive environment for women to process the effects of past or current abuse. Due to the sensitive nature of MTS groups, a simple application and screening process is required.

You can visit the Mending the Soul website for more detailed information about these groups or contact group leader Cathy Kerrey with any questions.
