Have you been attending Moon Valley for a while and are interested in what becoming a member here means? Becoming a member of MVBC is for those who have made a personal decision to believe in Jesus Christ to receive eternal life who also desire to make a special relationship with Moon Valley Bible Church as their local, "home" church.
Why become a member? Well, members are able to:
Participate in the all-congregation votes, usually once a year.
Receive other information and provide more input on the church's direction and vision.
In some cases, ministry positions may require a person to become a member.
How can you become a member of Moon Valley Bible Church? Periodically, we have a brief, 30 minute class where you will receive information on the teaching position of the church, discussion of our vision and ministry philosophy, a summary of our current ministries, and have the opportunity to connect with others and hear their stories about how they discovered MVBC.
If you are interested in learning more about becoming a member at Moon Valley, please contact Discipleship Director, Todd Mathis.
Baptism means a lot to us at Moon Valley. We see baptism as a step of faith in obeying what Jesus commanded us to do as a public expression of personal faith in Jesus.
Why be baptized?
It is a step of obedience to Jesus.
"Go, therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit." (Matthew 28:19)
It is a picture (or symbol) of what Jesus did when He died on the cross for our sins. He died, was buried, and rose again to wash away the sins of everyone who believes. Baptism is a portrait of this spiritual reality.
"Or do you not know that all of us have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life." (Romans 6:3-4)
"Having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead." (Colossians 2:12)
It shows people that you believe in, and are a follower of Jesus.
A good place to start if you have questions about baptism, and how MVBC practices baptism, is by watching our lead pastor Bob Kerrey's 2014 sermon "The Point of Baptism."
If you are interested in being baptized, we offer a Baptism Orientation class to provide more information on how we as a church practice baptism. Contact Discipleship Director, Todd Mathis if you would like more information.
